The Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV)
Devotional Thought
Praise the Lord God Jesus and Good Morning, Church Family!
This week, let's consider the fruit of the Spirit for our weekly devotional.
When the Holy Spirit lives in us, He produces fruit. This fruit is not something we work up through effort — it is the natural result of abiding in Christ and walking in the Spirit. The nine qualities listed in Galatians 5 describe the character of the Lord God Jesus Himself. As we grow in Him, these qualities gradually become more evident in our lives.
I want you to note that love, the first quality mentioned, is the foundation of all the qualities outlined. As a matter of fact, the other eight qualities mentioned are the characteristics or manifestations of love. Thus, godly love is the fruit (not fruits) of the Spirit. Love enables us to love others even when they are difficult. Joy gives us strength even in difficult seasons. Peace guards our hearts when circumstances are uncertain. The remaining qualities — patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — flow out of this foundation.
One of the most encouraging truths about the fruit of the Spirit is that it grows over time. We don’t have to produce it all at once. As we stay connected to the Lord God Jesus, His Spirit gradually renews our minds and transforms our character. This growth is often slow and unseen at first, but it is real and lasting. This grow begins when we say YES to the Lord Jesus and forsake our sinful ways. This week, lean on Him as the Vine and you will produce His spiritual fruit of love, and all its qualities.

Prayer
Father, I thank you for the fruit of love. Please produce the fruit of your Spirit in my life. Help me grow in love, joy, peace, and all the qualities that reflect the Lord Jesus. I cannot do this without You. Amen.
